What a business owner's application needs
Beyond the passport and photographs, these are the pieces that decide an owner's file — and the ones most often submitted in the wrong form.
Proof the business exists
GST registration, Udyam certificate, shop-and-establishment licence, partnership deed or certificate of incorporation — whichever applies to your structure.
Business and personal ITRs
Usually three years of both. Officers read them together: the firm's return should explain the money arriving in your personal account.
Audited accounts
Profit-and-loss and balance sheet, signed by your CA. This is what turns a claimed turnover into a documented one.
Current account statements
Twelve months, with the pattern explained. A large deposit that appeared three weeks before applying is the single most-questioned line in a business file.

The questions we get most
1I am a proprietor with no salary slip. Is that a problem?
It is not a problem, but it is more work than a salaried file and it is where most business-owner applications are weak. A salaried applicant hands over a payslip and the question is answered. You have to build the same answer from four or five documents — firm registration, business and personal ITRs, audited accounts and current-account history — and they have to agree with each other. Handed over loose, they read as a pile of paperwork. Assembled in the right order, they read as proof of a business that earns what you say it earns.
2My turnover is good but most of it is in cash. What then?
Then we work with what is documented, and we are straight with you about the gap. Officers assess what your papers can evidence, not what the business actually turns over — undeclared income cannot be presented, and inflating figures on an application is misrepresentation, which is far more damaging than a refusal. What we can do is make sure everything that IS on record is presented at its full weight, and that the funds shown for the trip have a traceable source. If the documented position is genuinely too thin for the country you want, we will tell you that before you pay an embassy fee.
3A large amount just came into my account. Does that hurt?
Only if it is unexplained. Officers look at where money came from, not just the closing balance — a lump sum landing shortly before an application, with nothing to account for it, is one of the most commonly questioned items in a business file. If it is a customer payment, a loan against property, a matured deposit or a sale, that is entirely normal and we document the source alongside it. The problem is never the deposit; it is the silence around it.
4I travel for business several times a year. Can I get multiple entry?
It should change how the first file is built. Where the rules allow it, a well-documented application can attract longer validity or a multiple-entry outcome, which saves repeating the whole exercise each quarter — though the duration granted is always the officer's decision and never something a consultant can promise. Just as important, a clean travel history built on honest applications works in your favour on every subsequent one. One badly prepared trip can undo years of that.
5Can you get me a work visa or set up a business abroad?
No, and we will say so rather than take the file. These are business visitor visas — meetings, buyers, trade fairs, exhibitions, factory visits and conferences. Overseas work permits and employment visas require an MEA recruiting-agent licence which we do not hold, and investor or business-migration programmes are a different regulated service. Anyone promising you a work permit alongside a visitor visa is worth walking away from.
6My last application was refused. Does that end it?
No, but hiding it would. A refusal gets declared and the new file is built specifically to answer the ground it was refused on — which is why reading the actual refusal letter matters more than starting over from scratch. Embassies retain refusal records and in several cases share them, so concealment does not work and is treated as misrepresentation. Declared and properly addressed, a past refusal is an ordinary case.
7When can I actually talk to you? My day does not end at six.
Whenever you are free. The office is staffed Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm IST for walk-ins and general enquiries — but business owners are handled as priority accounts, which means round-the-clock access. Message at 10pm after closing or on a Sunday and you reach a person rather than an auto-reply. Nothing in your file requires you to be free during working hours except the biometrics appointment itself, which we book around you.
