This page exists because Copenhagen is a common connection point and the question gets searched constantly. The answer for an Indian passport holder who stays airside between two non-Schengen flights is that no visa is needed at all, because India is not on Denmark's airport-transit list. The people who do need the ATV are nationals on that list, and for them the fee is €90, processing 15 calendar days from the Embassy receiving the file, extendable to 45. What changes the answer for anyone is leaving the transit zone: collecting bags, changing airports, or staying overnight in the city all need a Schengen short-stay visa, whatever your nationality.

Embassy fees are set in EUR by the Royal Danish Embassy — the actual INR charged at VFS varies with the daily exchange rate. VFS service and courier fees are fixed in INR. All fees payable in Cash / Card / UPI and are non-refundable regardless of visa outcome. Approximate total for an adult tourist/business visa: €90 + ₹2,484 (~₹10,584 at current exchange rates).

No. India is not on the list of nationalities Denmark requires an airport transit visa from (that list covers Afghanistan, Bangladesh, DR Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka and Syria). An Indian citizen who stays airside at Copenhagen between two non-Schengen flights needs no visa. If you leave the transit zone, collect baggage or change airports, you need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa.
Currently both cost the same €90 (plus VFS/courier fees). ATV has simpler documentation (no need to prove Danish accommodation since you won't leave the airport).
Not for an airside connection: as an Indian citizen you already need no ATV. If you plan to leave the airport, a US or UK visa does not replace the Schengen short-stay visa you would need for that.
If you're stranded in the transit zone, the airline handles rebooking. If you're forced to exit the airport (overnight hotel, etc.), that would technically violate an ATV — contact the Danish border officials at the airport for guidance.
