Special Instructions — Read Before Applying
These requirements apply to ALL Denmark visa types. Violations mean your application will be rejected — read each one carefully.
- 1Apply at least 15 days before travel — up to 6 months ahead is accepted. You may be called for an interview at the Embassy.
- 2Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended stay, have at least 2 blank pages, and must have been issued within the last 10 years.
- 3Handwritten or non-machine-readable Indian passports issued after 01/04/2010 are NOT accepted.
- 4Carry any old/expired passports — the Embassy wants to see all previous Schengen entry/exit stamps.
- 5Travel medical insurance covering minimum €30,000 is MANDATORY for all Schengen countries, covering the entire trip plus COVID-19 treatment and emergency medical evacuation.
- 6Bank balance: minimum DKK 350 per day (private accommodation) or DKK 500 per day (hotel). Last 3 months statement required — stamped and signed by the bank — even if you are being sponsored.
- 7Missing documents can be sent to VFS within 3 business days, in person OR via email to delambvisa@um.dk.
- 8Do NOT purchase your flight ticket until your visa is approved — only reservations are needed at application.
Who Can Apply
- Indian citizens with a layover in Denmark of a few hours to a few days en route to a non-Schengen destination
- Passengers with connecting flights requiring overnight stay in Copenhagen or another Danish city
Not eligible under this visa:
- Travellers planning activities beyond transit — apply for a tourist visa instead
- Those transiting only within the airport transit zone — use the Airport Transit Visa (cheaper option)
Previously Refused?
SPECIAL OFFERYour Denmark visa refusal isn't the end — it's a fixable situation.
Most refusal letters read like code. We decode the real reason behind your refusal — often different from what the letter says — and rebuild your case with a refusal-specific strategy. Refused applicants pay the same fee as first-time applicants, and we back it with our dedicated refusal-rebuild process.

💡 Pro Tips
- A valid US/UK/Canada/Australia visa in your passport can simplify the transit case significantly — the Embassy sees you're already vetted elsewhere.
- If your layover is <24h and you don't need to exit the airport, switch to the Airport Transit Visa — same €90 fee but less documentation.
- Keep proof of onward travel consistent with your transit dates — date mismatches are a common refusal reason.
