Tourism, sightseeing, meeting friends/family, short yoga or recreational courses.
Validity: 30 days (from first arrival), 1 year, or 5 years — you choose the tier.
Entry: Double entry (30-day) or multiple entry (1-year and 5-year).
e-Business Visa
Meetings, trade, setting up a venture, recruitment, sales — not employment.
Validity: 1 year from the date the ETA is granted.
Entry: Multiple entry; each stay up to 180 days.
e-Medical & Medical Attendant Visa
Treatment at a recognised Indian hospital, plus up to two attendants.
Validity: 60 days from first arrival.
Entry: Multiple entry, per the current portal.
e-Student Visa
A full-time course at a recognised Indian institution. A separate e-Family route covers dependants travelling with a student.
Validity: As granted for the course.
Entry: Multiple entry.
e-Family / Entry-type visa
Visiting or joining a close relative who is an Indian citizen or an OCI cardholder — including the foreign spouse of an Indian national. Needs documentary proof of the relationship.

Regular (sticker) visa
Employment, journalism, research, missionary, film and any purpose the e-Visa doesn't cover — or where your nationality isn't e-Visa eligible. There is NO e-Visa for employment: work in India is always a paper visa.
Validity: As granted by the Indian mission for your purpose.
Entry: Applied through the Indian embassy/consulate or its outsourcing partner.
