The Thailand Tourist Visa (Category TR) lets Indian passport holders visit Thailand for a holiday, recreation or to see family and friends. You apply in advance through a VFS Global Thailand Visa Application Centre, which forwards your file to the Royal Thai Embassy (New Delhi) or the Royal Thai Consulate-General with jurisdiction over your region (Mumbai, Chennai or Kolkata) — and the Consulate/Embassy alone decides. A single-entry tourist visa allows a stay of up to 60 days; a multiple-entry tourist visa is valid 6 months with up to 60 days per entry. (Since 15 September 2026 Indian passport holders can visit Thailand for tourism visa-free for up to 30 days, per the Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi — this visa is for stays longer than 30 days, multiple entries, or where the exemption does not apply.)

Identify your jurisdiction
Determine which Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate covers your state (New Delhi for the North, Mumbai for the West, Chennai for the South, Kolkata for the East) and use that VFS Thailand centre.
Complete the application form
Fill the Thailand visa application form in blue ink or type it, then sign in original. Prepare two compliant photographs and the cover letter stating your purpose and Thailand address.
Assemble documents
Gather passport, photos, confirmed return ticket, original attested 6-month bank statement (≈ USD 700/person), and hotel reservation. Print everything single-sided except the bank statement.
Submit at the VFS centre
Book/walk in to your jurisdiction's VFS Thailand Visa Application Centre, submit the file and pay the visa fee plus VFS service charge. Collect the receipt.
Track and collect
Processing is a minimum of 3–5 working days. Track via VFS (or optional SMS), then collect your passport or have it couriered back once the Consulate decides.

Indian passport holders can enter Thailand under a visa exemption for short tourist stays (up to 60 days) without a pre-arranged visa. If you need a longer stay, multiple entries, or are travelling for a non-tourism purpose, you apply for a Thailand visa in advance through a VFS Global Thailand Visa Application Centre.
A single-entry tourist visa (TR) allows a stay of up to 60 days. A multiple-entry tourist visa is valid for 6 months and allows up to 60 days per entry. Stays can sometimes be extended at a Thai immigration office inside Thailand.
A minimum of 3–5 working days from the day the Royal Thai Consulate/Embassy receives a complete file and fees. It can take longer at the Consulate's discretion, so apply well ahead of travel.
An original, bank-attested 6-month statement showing the equivalent of at least USD 700 per person, or USD 1,400 per family. A family member can sponsor you if their name appears on the statement and they provide a signed cover letter and passport copy.
