Good to know before you apply
Rules that apply to every Thailand visa type — worth a quick read so nothing trips up your file.
- 1Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Thailand, with at least 2 blank pages.
- 2Thailand visa processing is jurisdiction-based: apply at the VFS centre / Royal Thai Consulate that covers your state of residence (North India → Royal Thai Embassy New Delhi; West India → Consulate-General Mumbai; South India → Consulate-General Chennai; East India → Consulate-General Kolkata).
- 3Processing takes a minimum of 3–5 working days from the day the Consulate/Embassy receives a complete file and fees; it can be longer at the Consulate's discretion, so apply well ahead of travel.
- 4The visa application form must be filled in blue ink or typed, signed in original, and (except bank statements) all documents printed single-sided — back-to-back printed pages are not accepted.
- 5Two recent colour photographs (not older than 3 months), 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, white background, matt finish, face filling 60–70% of the frame, neutral expression with mouth closed, no headgear (except for religious reasons with face fully visible), no hat/cap, hair tucked behind the ears, and the applicant's signature on the back. Scanned or colour-photocopied photos are not accepted.
- 6Bank statements must be original, attested/stamped by the bank, and cover the last 6 months; the most recent transaction should not be older than 7 days at submission. Equivalent of about USD 700 per person (USD 1,400 per family) is expected for tourist applications.
- 7Hotel/accommodation confirmation must be a genuine hotel/DMC reservation (not a travel-agency printout) for the dates of travel; flight reservations must match the applicant's name. Provide reservations — do not buy fully paid tickets until the visa is granted.
- 8All fees and service charges are non-refundable even if the application is refused or withdrawn. The Consulate may call you for a personal interview or ask for additional documents.

+Who has to sign my Thailand business invitation, and what must it say?
The inviting company signs it, on its letterhead, naming you personally, the exact dates, the purpose of the meetings and — crucially — who is paying for what. Officers verify these: a letter with no signatory title, no company registration detail and no reachable phone number is worse than no letter, because it fails a verification call. Your own side matters just as much: a leave sanction or board resolution, your employment or directorship proof, and a travel history that fits the seniority the letter claims for you.
+Can I attend meetings, sign contracts or get paid on this visa?
Meetings, negotiations, conferences, trade fairs and training you attend are normally fine. What is not permitted is gainful employment — being paid by an entity in Thailand, or doing work that a local would otherwise be hired for, even unpaid in some categories. That line is where business visas get refused and, worse, where they get cancelled at the border. If your trip involves anything close to it, tell us the actual plan and we will tell you which route it needs.
+How long does a Thailand Thailand Business Visa take, start to finish?
Three things sit between today and your trip: preparing the file properly, waiting for an appointment, and the mission's own processing. Thailand currently states Minimum 3–5 working days from receipt of a complete file at the Consulate/Embassy (can be longer) for the decision itself. We control the first, which is usually days. The middle depends on slot releases. The third is entirely the mission's and no consultant can shorten it — anyone telling you otherwise is selling something they cannot deliver. Most of it is not ours. The Thailand government fee (currently ₹5,000) goes to the mission and the visa-centre fee goes to VFS — both charged to you at cost, never marked up, and shown as separate lines on one GST invoice in the registered company name.
