The journey.

5 steps from intake to approval. Curved spine on the right shows the natural pace — never as linear as government sites pretend.

  1. 01

    Shipping company issues invitation

Your employer (Indian or Danish shipping company) issues the vessel-specific invitation letter.

  2. 02

Fill form online + pay fee

Via applyvisa.um.dk — mention vessel name and your position.

  3. 03

    Book VFS appointment

Prioritise the VFS centre closest to your port of embarkation.

  4. 04

    Submit + biometrics

Bring the Seaman's Book and the shipping company invitation in original.

  5. 05

    Decision + boarding

15 days standard processing. Time your application so the visa is ready well before vessel departure.

What works

4 levers that flip a borderline case.

  • The shipping company is fully responsible for your stay, costs, and safe return. Their paperwork is the backbone of the application.
  • Book your VFS appointment at least 3–4 weeks before your ship's scheduled departure to handle any extended processing.
  • Always carry the ORIGINAL Seaman's Book to VFS — not just a copy.
  • If transiting multiple Schengen ports, mention all in your invitation and declare Denmark as the main port.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a separate visa for each Schengen country I transit?+
No. A Denmark seafarer visa allows transit through all Schengen countries if needed for joining/leaving your vessel. However, Denmark must be the primary port.
Who pays for the seafarer visa — me or the shipping company?+
By maritime convention, the shipping company pays visa fees and arranges transit for sign-on/sign-off crew. In practice, reimbursement policies vary — confirm with your employer before applying.
What happens if my vessel's schedule changes?+
If the change is before your visa is issued — update VFS/Embassy immediately. If after — the visa is tied to the vessel contract, so minor date changes are usually acceptable but major re-routings may require a new application.
Can I bring my family on a seafarer visa?+
No. A seafarer visa covers only you as crew. Family members would need separate tourist/family visas.

Before you apply

Two ways to apply for your Denmark denmark seafarers' transit visa.

Do it yourself

the risky route

  • You guess which papers Denmark actually wants — one missing or wrongly-framed document triggers a refusal.
  • You copy a cover letter off YouTube or Google — often the exact template embassies already flag as weak.
  • You apply during a known peak-rejection window without realising it.
  • Embassy & VFS fees are non-refundable — refused means your money, flights and leave are gone.
  • One refusal stamp follows you for life — every future visa, anywhere, must declare it.

With SureshotVisa

the approved route

  • A licensed consultant checks your case honestly before you spend a rupee on embassy fees.
  • We build your Denmark denmark seafarers' transit visa file the way the embassy approves — documents, cover letter, financials.
  • We catch the weak-ties, funding and intent issues behind 70% of Indian refusals — and fix them first.
  • We've rescued hundreds of files that were already refused once and got them approved.

Why DIY goes wrong

How a self-filed application turns into a refusal.

  1. 1

    You feel ready

A few YouTube videos make the process look simple.

  2. 2

    You file it yourself

You submit a sensitive denmark seafarers' transit visa on your own.

  3. 3

    One detail misreads

A small framing slip looks like weak ties or unclear intent.

  4. 4

    Refusal

Now every future visa, anywhere, must declare it.

Once you've been refused, you learn the hard way how much the small details mattered. We'd rather you never collect that first stamp.
