What you spend.

Learn from refusals
Why Latvia refuses student files
Unconvincing mandatory video interview — cannot explain the course, university or funding in basic English
Insufficient or unexplained financial means (fresh lump-sum deposits, no source trail)
Doubts about study intent: long academic gaps, profile-course mismatch or prior Schengen refusals left undeclared

Latvia student-visa FAQs
Is there really an interview?
Yes — Latvia runs a mandatory video-conference interview (₹3,200 charge at VFS). Weak interview answers are a leading refusal cause, so prepare your course, funding and return-plan story.
How much bank balance do I need?
PMLP's published figure is €500/month (≈₹45,000); newer guidance ties it to the €780 minimum wage. Prepare at the higher level to be safe — either way the money stays in your account, it is not paid to anyone.
What is the AIC certificate?
Latvia's Academic Information Centre verifies your Indian qualifications. Your university initiates it, and the certificate must accompany your signed study agreement in the visa file.
Can I work part-time?
Yes — 20 h/week during semesters and 40 h/week during official holidays for bachelor's students; master's and PhD students may work full-time.
