Sponsor Letter for US B1/B2 Visa — Format, Template & Tips

A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not required to apply for a US B1/B2 visitor visa. The US Department of State says applicants qualify based on their own circumstances and ties outside the United States. If another person will pay some or all trip costs, you may show evidence of that funding.

Is a sponsor letter required for a US visitor visa?

No. The US Department of State says an invitation letter or Affidavit of Support is not required, and bringing one does not determine approval. If someone else pays for the trip, you may show evidence of their contribution. Your own qualifications and ties outside the US still matter.
