Japan splits visa decisions across the Embassy of Japan, New Delhi + four consulates (Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru). Each has slightly different document checklists, photo specs, and processing times. The requirements on this page match the New Delhi jurisdiction.

Multiple 7 is for spouse or children of Indians holding Japanese Employment Visa (long-term work status). Allows short-term multiple visits to Japan (e.g. family visits, holidays). Different from full Dependent visa (which is long-term COE-based).

Visa Fee is refunded ONLY if the visa is NOT approved by the Embassy. There is a VFS Service Charge of ₹800 (inclusive of all taxes) per application — this applies even if the visa fee itself is exempted. Courier return service charge (optional): ₹550 per application (₹2,650 for Bhutan office). All charges are paid in cash/card only in INR at New Delhi VFS. For Gurugram, Chandigarh, and Lucknow Drop-Off offices: separate Demand Drafts in favour of 'VFS Global Services Pvt. Ltd.' — one per applicant for visa fee, service charge, and courier charge.

J-Find, Student, Dependent, etc. do NOT qualify as 'Employment Visa'. Apply for regular Visit visa instead.
Gensenchoshuhyo (源泉徴収票) is a monthly tax withholding statement — not sufficient. Embassy wants full Income/Taxation certificate OR counterfoil of final tax return (annual document).
Certificate of Residence — official Japanese document proving residence address in Japan. Your family member gets it from their municipal office. Exclude 'My Number' + Resident record code fields.
Each child files own application with own passport, photo, form. Minor children need parent signatures on form.
Typically 1-3 years. Matches principal's employment visa duration where possible.
