Secure a job offer / contract
Most work routes (e.g. D1) require a Portuguese employment contract or work offer; independent routes (D2) require business/activity documentation.
Lodge with the Embassy / AIMA
The Type D work-visa file is processed by the Embassy/Consulate and forwarded to AIMA under Portuguese national law. On approval you obtain a residence permit for work in Portugal.
