The Finland tourist visa is a Schengen Type C short-stay visa for Indian travellers visiting Finland (and the wider Schengen area) for tourism, sightseeing or holidays for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Applications are submitted in person at the Finland Visa Application Centre (VFS Global) by appointment, after completing the Schengen visa form. Travel medical insurance of at least €30,000 is mandatory and you can apply from up to 6 months before your trip.

The estimated processing time is up to 15 working days for individuals (up to 20 working days for groups of more than 15 people). During high season or in individual cases the Embassy can extend processing to 30 days, and may request extra documents or an interview. Working days exclude weekends and Finnish/Indian public holidays. Apply well in advance — up to 6 months before travel.
Yes. Every applicant (including children) must hold travel medical insurance with minimum coverage of €30,000, valid for the full trip and the entire Schengen area (worldwide is also accepted; 'Finland only' is not). It must cover sudden illness, accident, on-site assistance, medical repatriation and repatriation in case of death. Diplomatic/official passport holders and applicants under Directive 2004/38/EC are exempt.
You can submit no earlier than 6 months before your planned departure (9 months for seafarers travelling on duty). The processing clock starts only when you submit your application and supporting documents in person at the VAC or mission.
The Schengen visa fee is EUR 90 (about ₹10,100 from 27 Aug 2026) for adults and EUR 45 (about ₹5,100) for children aged 6–11; children under 6 are free. On top of that, a VFS service charge of EUR 20 (about ₹2,217, inclusive of tax) applies per applicant. INR amounts vary with the exchange rate and all fees are non-refundable.
Yes. All applicants, including children of all ages, must visit the Finland Visa Application Centre in person to submit documents and provide biometrics (fingerprints and a photo). Complete the application form first, then book the appointment, then attend.
Yes. A Schengen Type C visa lets you travel throughout the Schengen area within the validity and the 90/180-day limit. However, you must apply through Finland only if Finland is your main destination (most days) or your first point of entry for equal stays.
