The Sweden tourist visa is a Schengen Short-Stay (Type C) visa for Indian travellers visiting Sweden for tourism, sightseeing or a holiday. It allows a stay of up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the entire Schengen area. Applications are decided by the Embassy of Sweden, New Delhi, and submitted through VFS Global in India. Apply between 6 months and 15 days before your trip, with mandatory travel medical insurance of at least €30,000.

Embassy fees are set in EUR by the Embassy of Sweden — the INR amount charged at VFS varies with the daily exchange rate and is subject to change without notice. The VFS service charge (€19, incl. GST) is mandatory for every applicant, including fee-exempt children under 6. All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE regardless of the visa outcome. Optional add-on services at VFS: SMS €4, Courier €7, Premium Lounge €40, Prime Time Submission €41.50, Prime Time Collection €8.50, Call-Back €7, Hold-at-VAC €8.50.

What to gather
Having a document isn't the same as presenting it right — that's the part we handle.
Fill in your plan for the visit. Complete it before booking the VFS appointment.
Not older than 6 months; matches the Sweden photo specification.
Valid ≥3 months beyond departure, ≥2 blank pages, issued within the last 10 years. If extended, include a copy of that page and the observation page.
Irrespective of condition. If a previous passport is lost, attach a written note.
If applicable, to establish family relationships for accompanying travellers.
Hotel reservation, holiday-home rental document or campus residence booking covering all nights in the Schengen area.
If visiting several Schengen states, also provide intra-Schengen flight reservations, train itinerary or car rental.
Certificate confirming an organised trip, or any document indicating your detailed travel plans.

The embassy fee is €90 for adults and €45 for children aged 6–12 (free for under-6), plus a VFS service charge of €19 (incl. GST). The amounts are converted to INR at the exchange rate on your application day, so the rupee total varies — roughly ₹9,800–₹10,000 for an adult at current rates. All fees are non-refundable.
Standard processing is 15 calendar days from the day your application reaches the Embassy in New Delhi. If you submit at a VFS centre outside New Delhi, allow about 2 extra days for postal delivery. It can take longer in peak season or if the Embassy requests more documents or an interview.
You can apply up to 6 months before your trip and should apply no later than 15 calendar days before departure. Applying within that 15-day window risks the application being rejected or written off.
Yes. Overseas travel medical insurance valid across all Schengen countries with minimum coverage of €30,000 is mandatory. It must cover the entire trip (including arrival and departure dates) for accident, illness, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation, from an Embassy-approved insurer.
You need reservations, not paid tickets. Provide a return-flight reservation and hotel bookings covering your whole stay.
Up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen area, as granted by the Embassy (single or multiple entry).
Children under 6 are exempt from the embassy visa fee and are biometric-exempt; children aged 6–12 pay €45 and are also biometric-exempt. The €19 VFS service charge still applies to every applicant.
